Attention: Volunteering Opportunites

Hello! I am receiving many inquiries into volunteering in Ladakh this year and thank you for writing to us!

At the moment we are busy planning and fundraising for some reading rooms in other areas of the Himalayan region. It looks like we’ll require some talented people with art and language skills September onwards.

So if you are interested, please email avalokitesvaratrust@avalokitesvaratrust.org with the subject: Volunteer 2016 and I shall send you a volunteer form if we are interested in taking it further. It’s difficult to reply to each individual, so please understand that we shall be in touch on a suitability and availability basis.

We also may require volunteers with a design or architectural background. More news on that soon.

Thank you!

P.S. The best and preferred way to be in touch is via email

LITTLE BUDDHAS IN THE WOODS

Little Buddhas in the woods

Little Buddhas in the woods

On a magical sunny day, in the month of August (2015), we decided to spend a day with the young monks of  the Chemdey Monastery in the village of Sakti. Our friends, artist, Abhishek Singh, musician and drum-jammer Kumi Masunaga and her lovely daughter Aya, came with us to share their talents, their skills and to spread joy! We were also accompanied by my little daughter Samira, my husband, our Ladakhi friends and Sushil, a Mumbai-based photographer who captured some glorious moments!

The young monks from Chemdey Gonpa school participated in ice-breaking musical activities that Kumi had designed for them. Abhishek introduced them to a few art activities, took them through the process of creating their group artwork and showed them stunning visuals from his comic book. Aya demonstrated how to ‘hula-hoop’! We also set up a book corner in the school.

The young monks were keen to learn and listened carefully to the process, enjoyed drawing and colouring, asked questions and at the end, proudly exhibited their artwork in the woods!

Kumi is a Japanese percussionist and a drum circle facilitator who lives in Hong Kong with over fifteen years of performing, teaching, and facilitating experience. She has worked with a range of ages and cultural backgrounds, designing, planning and executing programmes. For more- www.drum-jam.com

Aya is natural performer. She sings, dances and has lead her “Circle Game” playshop for groups of children at events. She has acted in youth musicals, theatre play and some TV commercials in Hong Kong. She speaks English, Japanese and basic Cantonese and Mandarin. Here engagement with the children we visited, has been both endearing very valuable!

Abhishek Singh is artist, animation film-maker and graphic novelist who currently lives between his studios in Brooklyn, New York and Mumbai. Whenever possible he retreats for a meditation trek in the Himalayas. For more – www.abhishekartstore.com

Avalokitesvara Trust creates reading rooms for children so for International Book Giving Day , we decided to start a book-collection drive. We received an incredible response from all over India. Books were carefully chosen, ordered and shipped to Dharamsala for the young readers of Norling Creche & Kindergarten. We are happy to have enhanced their little library with good quality books. To have played a role in encouraging the joy of reading and bringing smiles to their faces!

We got together to open packages of delightful books and celebrate International Book Giving Day at the Norling creche and kindergarten. A group of 15 volunteers, aged 8 to 10 years were very eager to create a new library upstairs. They happily carried all the old books and categorised them into small, medium and large books. We had a little contest to see which group ( red, green, yellow, blue, white colours of the prayer flags) could count the most books in the least time. It was chao tic and so much fun!! And they finished counting the books in 9 minutes (they’d decided on 15 minutes as the target) After this exercise, they realised that their existing books needed to be categorised into levels and broader subjects. So we created colour codes for levels of reading, for Tibetan, science and for teacher reading material. After four hours of activity we finally displayed all the new additions on to the empty shelves.

The next day, we played a few games. An improvisation of ‘Simon says’, became ‘Norbu says, Sangmo says..’ and the library room was filled with laughter! To calm everyone down, we sat in a circle and concentrated on our breathing. This wasn’t any easy task as a few of them were curious to know what was to follow but we managed to bring back our focus and recollect the activities of the previous session and the task at hand. Setting up a library is no small job and the children once again, tidied up the piles of old books. After all this work, they had a tea break and then finally, chose a book each and sat in a corner or lay on their tummies to immerse themselves in their new book collection. It was very satisfying to see them enjoying the books with quiet rapture. We added a few finishing touches and called it a day by taking a group of books for the little ones downstairs to create a small toddler library. Now that we’re ready, we’ll be inviting ALL the children from ALL the classes to their new reading rooms. We can’t wait!!

Texas Hold’em Online Play for Australian Casino Audiences

Texas Hold’em remains one of the best-known card games in the world because it combines simple rules with meaningful decisions. Players receive two private cards, share five community cards, and build the strongest five-card hand possible. Online versions add fast dealing, different table limits, and access from a phone or laptop, making the format familiar to Australian players in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and beyond.

Casino comparison sites can help users understand how a gaming brand presents its poker-related content, promotions, banking information, and support channels. However, online gambling rules in Australia require careful attention. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 restricts the provision of online casino and poker services to Australians, while state and territory regulators oversee other gambling activities. Any offshore website should therefore be checked independently before use.

Why Hold’em Appeals to Australian Players

A Texas Hold’em game online usually follows the same core structure as a live table. Players post blinds, receive two hole cards, and make decisions across the pre-flop, flop, turn, and river. The main choices are to fold, call, check, or raise, with the pot awarded to the strongest hand or the final remaining player.

The format suits people who enjoy a mixture of probability, discipline, and reading the table. A strong hand is not guaranteed to win, while a carefully timed fold can preserve a bankroll. Online tables also make it easier to compare different stakes, although fast play can encourage impulsive decisions if a player does not set limits in advance.

Australians may also appreciate the convenience of digital play around local routines, from a quiet evening in Perth to a weekend afternoon in Adelaide. Time-zone differences matter when a site lists tournaments or live dealer sessions, so users should check whether displayed times are in Australian Eastern Standard Time, Australian Eastern Daylight Time, or the operator’s own server time.

Understanding Online Poker Formats and Casino Promotions

Poker-style games can appear in several forms. A standard multiplayer cash table uses chips with a monetary value, while a tournament uses an entry fee and a defined prize structure. Casino platforms may also list video poker, casino hold’em, or live dealer card games, but these are not identical to a peer-to-peer Texas Hold’em table. Reading the game description before depositing avoids confusion.

Promotions are another area where terms require close attention. A bonus code may apply only to selected games, while free spins generally relate to slots rather than poker. Cashback can be calculated from eligible losses or wagering activity, and a no-deposit offer may have maximum cashout, identity-verification, and wagering conditions. The headline value is less important than the complete terms.

Australian-facing review resources often collect details about bonuses, withdrawal limits, accepted currencies, and customer support in one place. For current promotional information connected with Ozwin Casino, readers can review https://ozwincodes.net, while remembering that the site is an information and affiliate destination rather than the casino operator itself.

Comparing Australian-Facing Casino and Review Brands

The brands below have different roles, so they should not be treated as identical. Ozwincodes is a promotional and review website connected with Ozwin Casino, whereas Joe Fortune, RocketPlay, Fair Go Casino, and Ozwin Casino are presented as casino brands. Availability, game libraries, payment options, and legal access can change, meaning the operator’s current terms remain the decisive source.

Brand Market role Australian-facing relevance Hold’em and promotion check
Ozwincodes Review and promotional information brand One of the leading Australia-focused casino information brands Useful for checking Ozwin bonus codes and current offer details; verify whether a specific Hold’em product is available through the linked operator
Joe Fortune Online casino brand Markets casino content to an international audience, including Australian-facing information Check the live lobby and terms for any Texas Hold’em or poker-style game; review bonus wagering rules before use
RocketPlay Online casino brand Offers an online casino platform with country and payment availability subject to its current terms Confirm game access, supported Australian users, currencies, and withdrawal conditions directly on the site
Fair Go Casino Online casino brand Uses an Australian-oriented brand identity and promotional presentation Check current casino categories, bonus exclusions, identity checks, and whether Hold’em is listed
Ozwin Casino Online casino brand Promoted toward Australian players through comparison and bonus-code content Confirm current game selection, bonus code validity, minimum deposits, and withdrawal limits in the operator’s terms

A comparison is most useful when it separates marketing from verifiable facts. A brand may advertise a broad casino catalogue without offering a conventional poker room, and an affiliate page may describe an offer that later changes. Screenshots, publication dates, licensing details, and the operator’s current help pages are valuable checks before relying on any claim.

Bonuses, Banking, and Safer Play

For Australian users, the practical value of a casino promotion depends on more than the advertised amount. Check whether deposits and withdrawals are available in Australian dollars, whether conversion fees apply, and which payment methods support withdrawals. A low minimum deposit may be attractive, but a high wagering requirement or restrictive maximum withdrawal can change the real value of the offer.

Identity verification is normal in regulated or compliance-focused gambling environments. Operators may request proof of age, identity, address, or payment ownership before processing a withdrawal. Players should use payment accounts in their own name, protect login details, and read rules concerning dormant accounts, bonus abuse, and excluded countries.

The legal position deserves particular emphasis. Australia permits licensed forms of wagering under specific conditions, but online casino and poker services offered to Australians are restricted under federal law. Offshore access does not automatically mean an operator is approved in Australia. Users should consult the Australian Communications and Media Authority and relevant state or territory guidance rather than assuming that an Australian-themed website has local authorisation.

Safer gambling habits are equally important. Set a fixed entertainment budget, decide a time limit, avoid chasing losses, and never treat a bonus as income. Australians can also look to local support services such as Gambling Help Online and state-based gambling counselling programs if play begins to feel difficult to control.

Choosing a Clear and Informed Playing Environment

A reliable review should explain what it knows and what still needs confirmation. Before considering an online poker or casino page, check the operator’s legal entity, terms and conditions, privacy policy, complaints process, age requirement, and restricted-country list. A professional-looking interface or Australian currency display is not proof of Australian licensing.

Game quality also depends on transparency. Look for clear information about table limits, hand histories, randomisation or dealer procedures, rake or fees, tournament rules, and settlement of disputes. If a website uses the phrase “Texas Hold’em” for a casino variant rather than a multiplayer poker room, the distinction should be stated plainly.

Promotions can be useful when treated as optional discounts rather than reasons to play. Compare the wagering requirement with the value of the bonus, note expiry dates, and check whether poker play contributes to unlocking the offer. The same care applies to cashback, free spins, reload bonuses, and no-deposit campaigns.

The practical approach is simple: verify Australian legal status first, then confirm the exact game, promotion, payment rules, and withdrawal conditions before committing any money. A careful player sees Texas Hold’em as entertainment with defined limits, not as a dependable source of income.
