Attention: Volunteering Opportunites

Hello! I am receiving many inquiries into volunteering in Ladakh this year and thank you for writing to us!

At the moment we are busy planning and fundraising for some reading rooms in other areas of the Himalayan region. It looks like we’ll require some talented people with art and language skills September onwards.

So if you are interested, please email avalokitesvaratrust@avalokitesvaratrust.org with the subject: Volunteer 2016 and I shall send you a volunteer form if we are interested in taking it further. It’s difficult to reply to each individual, so please understand that we shall be in touch on a suitability and availability basis.

We also may require volunteers with a design or architectural background. More news on that soon.

Thank you!

P.S. The best and preferred way to be in touch is via email

LITTLE BUDDHAS IN THE WOODS

Little Buddhas in the woods

Little Buddhas in the woods

On a magical sunny day, in the month of August (2015), we decided to spend a day with the young monks of  the Chemdey Monastery in the village of Sakti. Our friends, artist, Abhishek Singh, musician and drum-jammer Kumi Masunaga and her lovely daughter Aya, came with us to share their talents, their skills and to spread joy! We were also accompanied by my little daughter Samira, my husband, our Ladakhi friends and Sushil, a Mumbai-based photographer who captured some glorious moments!

The young monks from Chemdey Gonpa school participated in ice-breaking musical activities that Kumi had designed for them. Abhishek introduced them to a few art activities, took them through the process of creating their group artwork and showed them stunning visuals from his comic book. Aya demonstrated how to ‘hula-hoop’! We also set up a book corner in the school.

The young monks were keen to learn and listened carefully to the process, enjoyed drawing and colouring, asked questions and at the end, proudly exhibited their artwork in the woods!

Kumi is a Japanese percussionist and a drum circle facilitator who lives in Hong Kong with over fifteen years of performing, teaching, and facilitating experience. She has worked with a range of ages and cultural backgrounds, designing, planning and executing programmes. For more- www.drum-jam.com

Aya is natural performer. She sings, dances and has lead her “Circle Game” playshop for groups of children at events. She has acted in youth musicals, theatre play and some TV commercials in Hong Kong. She speaks English, Japanese and basic Cantonese and Mandarin. Here engagement with the children we visited, has been both endearing very valuable!

Abhishek Singh is artist, animation film-maker and graphic novelist who currently lives between his studios in Brooklyn, New York and Mumbai. Whenever possible he retreats for a meditation trek in the Himalayas. For more – www.abhishekartstore.com

Avalokitesvara Trust creates reading rooms for children so for International Book Giving Day , we decided to start a book-collection drive. We received an incredible response from all over India. Books were carefully chosen, ordered and shipped to Dharamsala for the young readers of Norling Creche & Kindergarten. We are happy to have enhanced their little library with good quality books. To have played a role in encouraging the joy of reading and bringing smiles to their faces!

We got together to open packages of delightful books and celebrate International Book Giving Day at the Norling creche and kindergarten. A group of 15 volunteers, aged 8 to 10 years were very eager to create a new library upstairs. They happily carried all the old books and categorised them into small, medium and large books. We had a little contest to see which group ( red, green, yellow, blue, white colours of the prayer flags) could count the most books in the least time. It was chao tic and so much fun!! And they finished counting the books in 9 minutes (they’d decided on 15 minutes as the target) After this exercise, they realised that their existing books needed to be categorised into levels and broader subjects. So we created colour codes for levels of reading, for Tibetan, science and for teacher reading material. After four hours of activity we finally displayed all the new additions on to the empty shelves.

The next day, we played a few games. An improvisation of ‘Simon says’, became ‘Norbu says, Sangmo says..’ and the library room was filled with laughter! To calm everyone down, we sat in a circle and concentrated on our breathing. This wasn’t any easy task as a few of them were curious to know what was to follow but we managed to bring back our focus and recollect the activities of the previous session and the task at hand. Setting up a library is no small job and the children once again, tidied up the piles of old books. After all this work, they had a tea break and then finally, chose a book each and sat in a corner or lay on their tummies to immerse themselves in their new book collection. It was very satisfying to see them enjoying the books with quiet rapture. We added a few finishing touches and called it a day by taking a group of books for the little ones downstairs to create a small toddler library. Now that we’re ready, we’ll be inviting ALL the children from ALL the classes to their new reading rooms. We can’t wait!!

First Deposit Bonus Aussie Players Can Understand

For many Australian adults exploring online casinos, a first deposit bonus can look like an easy way to extend an initial playing budget. The appeal is clear: a qualifying deposit may unlock extra funds, free spins, or another promotional reward. Yet the headline figure rarely tells the whole story. Wagering rules, time limits, game restrictions, and withdrawal conditions can determine the real value.

The phrase “first deposit bonus aussie players” often leads to pages filled with competing offers. A careful approach helps separate a genuinely useful promotion from one that simply looks generous in an advertisement. Reading the terms, checking the operator’s transparency, and deciding on a firm entertainment budget should come before any deposit.

Clear information matters to Avalokiteśvara Trust because informed choices support healthier communities. The organization promotes literacy and access to learning resources for children and young monks in Himalayan communities, and that same respect for understandable information applies when adults assess digital entertainment services. Gambling should remain optional, age-restricted, and separate from essential household spending.

What a first deposit offer usually includes

A welcome promotion commonly matches part of a player’s first deposit up to a stated maximum. For example, an operator might advertise a percentage match, a set of free spins, or a combination of both. The bonus is generally credited only after a player meets specific conditions, so the advertised amount should be viewed as promotional credit rather than immediately withdrawable cash.

The most important detail is usually the wagering requirement. If bonus funds and associated winnings must be played through several times, the amount of activity needed can be much higher than a new customer expects. A promotion with a smaller headline figure but lower turnover conditions may offer better practical value than a large bonus with demanding rules.

Australian players should also look for eligibility requirements, minimum deposits, excluded payment methods, and expiry dates. Some offers apply only to selected games, while others limit the contribution that certain games make toward wagering. These details should be available in the full terms before a person accepts the promotion.

Read the terms before making a deposit

A trustworthy bonus page should explain how the offer works without forcing readers to search through unclear wording. Important points include whether the deposit itself is withdrawable, whether bonus funds expire, and what happens if a player withdraws before completing the requirements. The rules should also identify any maximum cashout or maximum bet restriction attached to bonus play.

Promotional pages can change, so saving or reviewing the current terms at the time of registration is sensible. A player should never assume that a bonus can be cancelled without consequence or that every game contributes equally. When comparing a run4win no deposit bonus or another online promotion, the offer’s conditions deserve at least as much attention as its advertised value.

It is also wise to verify customer support access and account rules. A legitimate service should provide clear channels for questions, explain identity checks, and state how deposits and withdrawals are handled. If key information is missing, difficult to locate, or inconsistent across the website, that is a reason to pause rather than rush into registration.

Compare value rather than the headline number

A useful comparison starts with the amount a player plans to deposit, not the maximum bonus displayed in large type. Someone depositing a modest amount may never qualify for the top advertised reward. Calculating the actual match, then considering the turnover requirement, gives a more realistic picture of the offer.

Game contribution rules can change the calculation. Slots may count fully, while table games, live casino titles, or selected games may contribute only partially or not at all. Free spins can have separate playthrough rules and may produce winnings that are subject to additional restrictions. These distinctions can make two apparently similar welcome packages very different.

Payment speed and account verification also influence convenience. A promotion is less attractive if withdrawing eligible winnings involves unclear procedures or unexpected delays. Comparing the full customer experience—including terms, support, payment information, and safer gambling tools—provides a stronger basis for judgment than comparing bonus percentages alone.

Feature What to check Why it matters
Deposit match Percentage and maximum amount Shows the realistic value for the planned deposit
Wagering rule Number of times funds or winnings must be played Determines how much activity is required
Game contribution Which games count and at what rate Affects how quickly requirements can be completed
Expiry period Date or time limit for using the promotion Prevents unexpected loss of bonus funds
Withdrawal rules Verification, maximums, and eligible balance Clarifies when money can be withdrawn
Safer gambling tools Limits, time reminders, and self-exclusion options Helps keep play within personal boundaries

Keep promotional play within a fixed budget

A bonus should never be treated as income or as a way to recover previous losses. The deposit should come from discretionary entertainment money, after essential expenses have been covered. Setting a limit before opening a gaming session is more reliable than deciding how much to spend while emotions are involved.

Time deserves the same attention as money. Promotions may encourage extended play because wagering requirements take time to complete. Taking breaks, using session reminders, and avoiding play when tired or distressed can help preserve perspective. If gambling begins to interfere with work, study, relationships, or financial obligations, stopping is more important than completing a promotion.

Players should also understand that bonus terms do not change the underlying odds of casino games. A reward may increase the amount available to wager, but it does not guarantee a profit. Responsible operators should provide links to support services and tools that allow customers to set deposit, loss, or session limits.

Why transparent information builds trust

The best promotional communication is direct about both benefits and limitations. It should explain the conditions in language ordinary customers can understand, rather than relying on a striking number and small print. That standard is familiar to educational charities, where accessible information helps people make informed decisions and use resources effectively.

Avalokiteśvara Trust’s work focuses on books, reading rooms, and creative activities for children and young monks across Ladakh and other Himalayan communities. Its mission is distinct from online gaming, yet the connection to responsible communication is meaningful: people deserve clear facts when deciding how to use money, time, and digital services.

A charitable website should also keep that distinction visible. Gambling promotions should not be presented as charitable giving, a financial solution, or a route to guaranteed rewards. Any adult who chooses to explore them should do so independently, within local rules, and with a clear understanding that entertainment spending can result in losses.

A practical checklist before claiming an offer

Before accepting a welcome promotion, Australian adults can review a short set of questions. This process takes only a few minutes and can prevent misunderstandings later:

  • Confirm that the operator accepts Australian customers and states its relevant licensing or regulatory information.
  • Calculate the actual bonus based on the intended deposit, rather than the maximum advertised amount.
  • Read wagering, game contribution, expiry, maximum bet, and withdrawal conditions.
  • Set a deposit and time limit before playing, using the operator’s available safer gambling tools.
  • Treat bonus funds as promotional credit, never as guaranteed cash or a way to repay losses.

A measured approach is especially important when marketing language creates urgency. An offer that expires soon may still be unsuitable, and declining a promotion is always an available choice. Players should keep records of deposits and withdrawals, protect account credentials, and contact support when any term is unclear.

The same habit of careful reading supports the wider values of Avalokiteśvara Trust: informed communities are better equipped to make thoughtful decisions. For anyone considering a first deposit offer, the most useful next step is to open the full terms page, write down the wagering and expiry conditions, and decide on a firm entertainment limit before depositing.
