The AT office is on the first floor of a restored heritage house in Leh old town that goes by the name of Gotal House. This is where volunteers undergo orientation, are prepped on the finer points before they embark on their journey to schools. Apart from tweaking lesson plans, having long detailed discussions and debates about children, schools and the various education systems today, we pack large boxes with books, toys and stationery and often cook and lunch, which we enjoy with a magnificent view of the Zangskar range.
