Thanks to the sympathy of the army personnel on duty at the border, we were able to visit the school in Tang village, the last point in Indian territory (“zero point”), which has never received civilian visitors since the outbreak of the Indo-Pak conflict. The village, a 6 kilometre walk back and forth from the Tyakshi checkpost, has 22 households. The school has the same number of children.
A collection of beautiful books was given to the children here, along with handcrafted handkerchieves designed by our friends. The children were also delighted to receive skipping ropes, hula-hoops and other play material.
In the near future, we plan to refurbish the primary school in Tang and provide further inputs for the school.
