The Lamdon Model School’s objective is to provide equal education opportunities to all children, particularly poorer ones, through modern educational practices. At the same time, the school helps students appreciate their own culture and values. The children learn Ladakhi, Hindi and English. The school has over 2000 students, a large number of whom are resident students from many Ladakhi villages.
After a tour and discussion with the principal Yeshe Tundup, it was decided to create a lovely reading room in the boys’ hostel which has a well-lit and spacious glass room. The girls’ from the hostel close by also use this space for reading sessions and after school activities.
We plan to paint the walls of this room with artwork from the story books.
